Description:

In this online workshop, we'll explore how to capture the shape, movement, and personality of animals using simple, intentional brushstrokes.

We'll bring them to life using the expressive brush and ink techniques of Chinese brush painting.

In college I spent a semester focusing on Japanese and Chinese brush painting and it helped me discover my love for mark making and I am excited to share it with you!

Rather than focusing on perfect realism, we’ll embrace the beauty of loose, intentional marks and learn how a few simple strokes can bring an animal to life.

Material Suggestions:

I like to use newsprint and 140lb watercolor paper when practicing. Newsprint is nice because you go through so much while practicing all my mark making.

For brushes, bring a few different sized watercolor round brushes and a flat brush.

Black Ink and Watercolor

"The purpose of my workshops is to help you embrace your creative spirit and take creative chances together. In the process I want you to experience something new and have fun. This is why my workshops are open to all skill levels, so whether you have never picked up a paint brush or paint on the regular, I structure my classes to be open to all students." - Rachel

Rachel graduated with her BFA in Painting and since has taught 1000’s of students how to create beautiful pieces through watercolor. She is a published author of "Watercolor Botanical Garden: A Modern Approach to Painting Bold Flowers, Plants, and Cacti" You can learn all about it and get your copy here
