Ornament Painting with Kids
Welcome to December! It is here whether we are ready or not :) This month I’ll be focusing on some fun holiday themed blog posts for you all. Starting with Ornament Painting with kids! If you are subscribed you have already received the free supply list with links to products I recommend for this fun activity. You can scroll down and get the list if you haven’t yet!
I love painting ornaments, not only as a profession but on a personal level. As a child, I created so many different types that my mom kept over the years and they hold memories that I never want to forget. Every year they take me back to a place in my life that reminds me of something special. Do you have those memories? If you don’t then there is no time like this year to start creating them, whether it be with your kids, nephews, nieces, friends, husband, wife, mom, dad, grandparents, pets, the list goes on!
In this tutorial I take you through an easy and fun way to include all age levels when ornament painting, from the supplies, to suggested color palettes, etc.
Remember it is all about fun so if you throw everything you learn out the window, then no big deal as long as you have fun, that’s what is important!

Where to start when choosing a color palette for your next painting
This is a very asked about topic and I finally decided to answer your question in a more thorough manner than “I just know from experience” Ummmm….. how does that help you, it doesn’t haha.
This is my first blog post on my website so I whole heartedly thank you for being here and reading my words. I have been painting for over 15 years so I have had time to really get to know color. I would say in the words of Kip (Napoleon Dynamite), “it’s getting pretty serious.”
Color is one of those things in painting that is very personal but there are theories that actually can help you determine different palettes and give you a starting point.
In this first lesson I go through and teach you some basic color theory that you will use not only as painter but in all areas of life that involve color, whether it be your home design or what flower to pick for your garden.
If you missed, I also have a worksheet with lots of insight and exercises I recommend for you to try. I really take you inside my personal process of picking my colors! It is the same process I use for all the kits I create in my shop. Think of it as special peek inside my brain and I am excited for you all to dive deeper with me into all my different art methods in the coming weeks.
I encourage you to share you progress with me if you try any of the exercises by tagging @pinkpuddlestudio
Happy Painting!
